Did Migos Refuse To Perform Alongside Drag Queens During Katy Perry's 'SNL' Set?

Katy Perry's stint on "Saturday Night Live" is making noise for all the wrong reasons. Since performing "Bon Appétit" and her new Nicki Minaj-assisted single, "Swish Swish," on the Studio H8 stage, reports have circulated that her guest stars Migos refused to perform alongside drag queens, who served as extras during the latter performance, forcing them to be removed from the set because the trio was uncomfortable.

Earlier this week, World of Wonder, the production company behind "RuPaul's Drag Race" made the initial report, which has since been deleted from their website, offering readers with three anonymous quotes -- two from on-set drag queens and another from an "SNL" employee -- about how Migos didn't feel comfortable performing alongside the queens during "Bon Appétit." After a look at the performance, you'll notice that the rappers did indeed sit at the table, but were placed far away from the queens.

"I was one of the performers on that table with them the whole time, during the rehearsal for 3 days. On the day of the filming, when I got there, I was told to leave," one of the queens reportedly told WOW. "I wasn’t on the set at the time, but we were asking what happened. They said it was because Migos doesn’t feel comfortable with having drag queens there."

It's a story that particularly hits a nerve, considering that the hip-hop act hasn't exactly embraced the LGBTQ community. Earlier this year, the Atlanta trio made homophobic comments in an interview with Rolling Stone and then further proved their stance on LGBTQ lifestyle in a follow-up video interview with TMZ

While a representative for Capitol Music called the story "completely false and fabricated" via UPROXX, it's worth noting all the commentary coming from the woodwork seems to be all over the place. Brita, one of the queens who appeared during the performance, wearing pink and yellow, said there was "no drama" with the rappers, but that the set did change throughout rehearsals.

"It was incredible performing with Katy Perry. She wanted to have all walks of life at the table. I was happy to represent all the drag queens. There was numerous changes throughout the rehearsal process. They chose to have only people of color at the table. There was no drama with Migos."

At the same time, it's likely that the performance extras probably don't want to bite the hand that fed them, so steering clear of the WOW report may be for the best. Meanwhile, another anonymous insider took to Reddit and claimed that Katy "maneuvered the situation," so that Migos would be able to perform at the table alongside the queens.
