TBT: Last Opening Day at Tiger Stadium (Photos)

The Corner in Corktown Detroit has welcomed many major league baseball Opening Day games for fans to remember. The nick name, "The Corner" was coined by it historic location - Michigan and Trumbull. The Detroit Tigers have played at 'the Old Ballpark' since 1901, and were one of the charter members of the American League.

Fans walking to Tiger Stadium for the last opening day game before moving to Comerica Park. Was it a funeral, or a game?! LOL! The scene definitely doesn't look 'LIT' and everyone looks sober. Some tailgate. Everyone in the pic looks like they called-off work and didn't want to get spotted.

Players from the Detroit Tigers and Milwaukee Brewers line the baselines for the national anthem at Tiger Stadium for the last opening day on 12 April 1999.

Kansas City Royals catcher Chad Kreuter scoops up some dirt behind home plate at Tiger Stadium for a souvenir, after their game against the Detroit Tigers.

18 years after the Tigers' last game, and the demolition of the Old Ballpark, Detroit's future is now in play. The Detroit Police Athletic League (PAL) was able to complete over $20 million in fundraising to redevelop and build the state-of-the-art stadium and headquarters.

The Corner Ballpark presented by Adient, will host Detroit PAL's youth sporting events including baseball, football, and soccer. Detroit PAL currently has 14,000 youth.
