Jalen Rose Says Juwan Howard's Hiring at Michigan Squashes Fab Five Beef

Indiana V Michigan

In recent years, former University of Michigan basketball teammates Jalen Rose and Chris Webber haven't been as close friends after college. The two "Fab Five" members have been at odds for many years for various reasons. That could all change after fellow Fab Five member Juwan Howard's hiring as new head coach for the Michigan Basketball.

Rose, now an analyst at ESPN, was asked what Howard's hiring would do to the "complicated" relationship he shares with Webber.

“It squashes any drama or any beef because we’re not going to bring that to Ann Arbor’s campus with Juwan Howard as our head coach," Rose said Thursday morning on ESPN's "Get Up." "The one thing that we both know is his success turning around the University of Michigan is first and foremost about him and about the players that he’s going to influence. Then it’s about us being there to support him, not being drama, not being splintered, not giving any indication of dysfunction. We’re going to move as a family and we’re going to do what we can to build on what John Beilein has established in Ann Arbor.”

Chris Webber said on "The Dan Patrick Show" that he would like to have a full reunion with his Fab Five teammates at Michigan.

“There’s nothing I would want more than that,” Webber said. “I think that we’re on the right path for that. I think there has to be conversation, organically. People were pushing it for money because of that (ESPN) doc, but you have to be sincere, address and then move forward because all the other stuff is still going to be there.

“For the fans, for myself, for my family, hopefully I think it’s something we’re working toward.”
